Ana Cristina Junqueira Villela is the producer of this coffee, which has been grown and processed on her family farm Vista Alegre. Located in the south of Minas Gerais, in the region which holds the Mantiqueira de Minas Geographical Indication, the farm is built on fertile soils and has dedicated areas of forest reserve. Natural springs provide water for the farm and the local fauna. The farm borders the city streets, where the employees have their own homes, receive health care and have access to public education. The farm belongs to Ana Cristina Junqueira Villela and her siblings. They chose the area as it was near the property of their mother, where high quality coffee is traditionally grown. The farm is run by one brother, Márcio Heleno de Carvalho Junqueira. The family place high value on socio-environmental responsibility and are personally dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in their production. As a result, their coffees have been exported to many countries around the world. All coffee grown on Vista Alegre is meticulously hand harvested. After harvest, the cherry is transferred to the processing area to be sorted, pulped and washed and finally moved to cement drying patios. The beans are spread carefully over the patios and rotated 15 to 20 times per day. When the parchment reaches an ideal moisture level it is taken to silos to rest for a period of 30 days. Following the resting period, the beans are processed and separated into lots, then stored in the COCARIVE warehouse until they are ready to be shipped.
